Octavian Puiu Chiriac

At OpenGeoHub, Octavian supports the foundation’s current and future European Commission-funded and other international projects in the development and in the production of global and regional spatial predictions of soil variables.
Specific tasks include but are not limited to:

  • • Soil data quality control;
    • Soil classification checking;
    • Fitting pedotransfer functions;
    • Spatial modeling with soil data;
    • Interpretation of soil predictions including predictive soil mapping results.

At OpenGeoHub, Octavian is a research assistant, and he will obtain his PhD degree in Agricultural Sciences in June 2026. He has a background in agronomy, soil fertility and digital agriculture.
