OpenGeoHub is a non-for-profit organization and registered education institution based in Wageningen, Netherlands, with a mandate to promote the publication and sharing of Open Geographical and Geoscientific Data and using and development of Open Source Software.
About the Internship
We are currently looking for a full-time intern to support the Communications and Governance team of OpenGeoHub in setting up the communication & dissemination plan for a Horizon 2020 project on Epidemiological Intelligence: Monitoring Outbreak Events for Disease Surveillance in a Data Science Context (MOOD). The project involves a consortium of 25 scientific organizations, government agencies, as well as human and veterinary medicine stakeholders from 12 EU countries, on a public health project to monitor infectious disease outbreaks using state-of-the-art detection systems.
Within the scope of your activities, you will work in a small, dynamic and international team of scientists and technologists, to contribute perspectives in sociology, behavioural sciences and interdisciplinary research. In order to thrive in this project, you should be no stranger to its key ambitions of implementing participatory, bottom-up approaches and social constructivist theories.
We look for people who:
Are interested in interdisciplinary research and intercultural teamwork skills
Function well within a team, but also take own initiative when needed
Are a critical thinker with an understanding of both natural sciences and social sciences
You are at the final stage of your university MSc degree in the fields of communication, sociology, anthropology, development and (critical) public health.
You have excellent knowledge of the English language.
